Dear Praying Friends:
Hebrews 13:8, " Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, and today, and forever". How thankful we are for this promise; though tough times and people change, He is always the same.
We greet you once again from this lovely countryside. The weather has been nice; a little cooler this past week--finally had our much needed rain--the thirsty blades of grass literally raised their heads to receive it. It had been 29 days since we had any precipitation.
Our two oldest boys left us last month. The father moved and wanted them with him again. Our hearts were saddened as we think of the environment they now live in: above a tavern, with very little supervision. We pray God's Word, which they heard and learned while here, will give them some direction in their young lives. We realize that nothing can take the place of that day by day, week by week, and year by year discipline and training in the Word of God. PRAY for the Smith boys.
The State Fire Marshal inspected the premises and a few minor changes are needed. Also the board fence is up and the cattle are by the stream. A Children's Home Board has now been organized. We are in the process of drawing up the Constitution and resolutions. Then we will incorporate and submit our application to the State board for a license. There is a tremendous need in this area. The State is opposing this work. Just another sign that the coming of the Lord draweth nigh. PLEASE PRAY!
Jack is attending a Bible class one nite a week at the mission. With the lighter responsibilities here at Cedar Ridge, Doris, as well as Jack, is able to attend the Washington Bible College Extension School, which meets each Thursday. We praise the Lord for this opportunity of taking "Visual Aids" under a very capable teacher--a vital work with children. In between the two sessions each week, Dr. Miles, of Washington Bible College, is presenting a Bible exposition on the Second Coming. He is a very humble man of God.
We have appreciated the interest of you dear friends stopping in. We enjoyed a brief visit with the Lorences. We were surprised by a short visit with Mom Drooger and Eleanor and Gerald Glupker on Doris' birthday. What a sweet time of fellowship we had!
Busy plans are ahead: Tom will be attending the annual Youth Conferences at Washington Bible College, November 8th and 9th. Pray that the young people will see a real vision for serving the Lord in these latter days of moral degeneration, violence, and rejection of the Word of God.
Jack will be assisting Mr. Resh in two Missionary Conferences the week of November 10-17, in missionary booths and speaking. Also, jail services will be resumed with Jack in charge each week, and men of the mission, saved by God's grace from sin--alcoholism, and all that goes with it--will be going along to take part in the service giving their testimonies. It will be an opportunity for the men to express themselves. Also a young man if eighteen, who but by God's grace could be one of our own dear sons, is on parole at the Mission. He was recently saved, attends a Baptist church, and is active in a young people's group. Whereas he was withdrawn and would only talk when you asked him a question, now he has really opened up. Second Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold all things are become new." Ones such as these really need our prayers.
We appreciate the weekly bulletins and letters of encouragement and assurances of prayer, without which this work would be impossible. Thanks too for your financial support. We continue to rejoice with you as every letter and bit of news contains something about how the Lord is blessing the church under the ministry of Dr. Pyke. How we need men to take a stand for Christ in these times.
Your Ambassadors for Christ,
The Droogers
